Discover Three New Makeup Products to Try This May

Throughout my makeup journey, I have always remained loyal to the beauty products that truly impress me. You might expect that as a dedicated beauty product tester, I would frequently switch things up, but that’s just not my style. When I find a product I love, I commit to it wholeheartedly.

Admittedly, I have experimented with various concealers and enjoyed numerous day creams. I’ve built relationships with different retinols, but sometimes I have had to part ways with what I thought would be my everlasting favorites. Occasionally, products are discontinued, like the Becca Under Eye Corrector, which left me feeling abandoned. At other times, they become obsolete due to formula changes or the arrival of something superior.

Nevertheless, I have consistently relied on a select few products for a long period. My go-tos include Benefit brow gel, Clinique Lash Power Mascara, and Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Bronzer. While these items are quite worn and often find themselves tossed around in my makeup bag, their presence is always felt on my face. However, this May, my loyalty is being challenged as new products catch my eye.

Jones Road tinted moisturizer tube with product swatch.

First on my list is the Jones Road Just Enough Tinted Moisturizer (£44, jonesroadbeauty.com). From the moment I applied it, I was smitten. However, I want to clarify that this is more of a seasonal fling for me. It offers a beautifully lightweight, creamy tint that enhances the skin with a fresh and slightly even finish, although it doesn’t provide full coverage — a concealer is still required for heavier imperfections. It’s perfect for this time of year, whether you’re enjoying summer holidays, warm weekends, or sweaty commutes. When it comes to lightweight skin bases that don’t look heavy or settle into fine lines, this product is a notable contender.

Yves Saint Laurent lip gloss.

Next up, I’m embracing my small collection of lip oils. Recently added to my favorites is the YSL Loveshine Plumping Lip Oil Gloss (£38, selfridges.com). I’m captivated by the rich color payoff achieved with a single swipe. This versatile gloss delivers a stunning lip look, suitable for any occasion, with ten shades ranging from pinks to reds, plums, and neutrals. It’s worth noting that the ginger and pepper oils provide a tingling sensation that may not appeal to everyone, but they do add an alluring plumpness to the lips.

Lisa Eldridge Kitten Lash Mascara in brown.

Finally, I’ve developed a strong appreciation for brown mascara. I’ve strayed from black mascara, as it often makes my eyes appear more tired. The darker pigments can accentuate a fatigued look. Enter brown: it provides a softer, more subtle eye finish that’s perfect for a casual, everyday look. The Lisa Eldridge Kitten Lash Mascara (£29, lisaeldridge.com) embodies this approach with its understated elegance. It’s flattering and enhances the eyes without overwhelming them. Here’s to enjoying these new favorites—at least until my next beauty column!
